Parents in Fort St. John

It was fabulous having visitors and the weather put on a real show while they were here!

The days were as busy as we wanted.

We celebrated Daddy's birthday all weekend (talk about an elastic birthday).

We had a lovely lunch at a pub on the south end of Charlie Lake (the location of the old Red Barn)

Mummy had her hair done by Joyce.  She didn't have a beer with lunch (Daddy and Greg did)

On Saturday, Greg had his neck (well he hasn't much hair on his head!) for a fundraiser for cancer equipment.  This is the eighth time he had participated and this year he raised over $1200.

Mummy and Daddy have supported his efforts every time and this year they were able to be a part of the festivities.  Daddy even ran into an old Alwin Holland student.  At the bank before coming to the head shaving place, the teller recognized Mummy as the Ambrose librarian!

The weather was great--Mummy was WAY too hot in her Cancer sweatshirt.

The super weather continued on Sunday.  After church, we all piled into Bridget for an unknown destination.

First stop...a picnic at Peace Island Park.

Hard boiled eggs, fresh buns, little tomatoes, sausage rolls, carrot sticks, birthday (cherry) cake, molasses cookies and sparkling juices.

We were surrounded by the sounds of birds.

As we were leaving, the park ranger stopped by to make sure everything was okay.  A mother bear and her cub usually hung out at our picnic spot.  Sure glad he told us as we were packing up!!

Second stop of the magical mystery tour:  the old Kiskatinaw Bridge.  We travelled over the bridge and then went down into the campground.  We parked right beside the river, which was high (for the Kiskatinaw)

Last stop:  ice cream cones from the Dairy Queen, consumed on the back patio.

We spent quite a bit of time on the patio--the weather was so glorious and I had put out all my flower containers on the long weekend (after the snow melted!)

This is what the back looked liked only 6 days before the parents arrived.  May 15th.  It always seems to snow on the May Long Weekend!

They arrived at an exciting time of the year--they literally watched the trees come into leaf and the blossoms form on the apple trees.

We had a lovely visit--lots of laughs, good food and amazing weather
