The start of a wonderful afternoon of sightseeing, and fulfilling a long held dream - for Ken, it was being back on the water in a nice sized boat - I initially thought I couldn't handle anything smaller than a BC Ferry sized boat on the water, but this was a wonderful and pleasant afternoon of just enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of being on the water.

We started our afternoon on the historical boardwalk in Telegraph Cove [hence these pictures]:























Captain Jim piloted the boat we spent the afternoon touring on, and Kristen was our naturalist and tour guide, who helped bring about a wonderful 4 hour experience:

Our first view of mamals on the water - there are actually harbour seals, or are they seal lions? They are blended into the colour and texture of the rocks, but you could find them located on the lower left hand side of the picture....I think I counted 3 of them sunning themselves on the rocks. It took me awhile to actually see them:



The number of Bald Eagles absolutely amazed me. Here are some pictures [well at least one!] of the bald eagles in the area. They were very plentiful.










Some pictures of the beautiful scenery - we were crossed Johnstone Strait, and did most of our touring in the Black Fish Channel area.






















and then the whole reason we wanted to do this trip, and this wonderful whale, identified as KC, put on quite the show: [according to Scotty, of Star Trek fame: "There be whales, Captain" well there was one!]




















































Captain Wayne, of the other whale watching boat out at the same time as we were, was located on the other side of the area where KC was breeching, and being much closer to the whale was able to get this picture - the different perspective on a wonderful show:
