Firstly, WOW Penny and Ken! What fabulous pictures of whale watching - and you saw one breach you luckies! Looks like a wonderful day! We'd love to see what everyone's been up to. Sally, I've been describing your Cook Island pictures with little success - we need to see them to believe that blue water! Please post some for us! Dave, we'll try to get onto My Space and watch your video tonight. We're dealing with a rather ancient computer here and no wireless. Thankful, always for small mercies:)

Carcassone is Rowan's dream come true..... We left early early - note the Bate girls woke up about 30 minutes after we left our little villa... Train to Carcassone and almost immediately booked a boat ride on the canal de midi. Very beautiful, tranquil and fulfilled all of our ideas of what a bateau on a canal would be - complete with two locks! Very cool!

A hot walk up the hill to the medieval city - absolutely breathtaking from the outside and a lot like a tourist place on the inside! It was at least 37 degrees out, so we bought tickets for the tourney de la chivalrie and watched a glorious hour long show in the shade. The knights looked hot, but they were very grand and the horses were fabulous!

We caught the next train home without seeing much more of the city as it was so hot and the Basilica was closed for renovations - we'll need to make another trip on a cooler day. Altogether, wonderful, hope you enjoy the pictures!
