I taught ESL last week for the School District. My second time teaching ESL and I really enjoy it! This group was from Zibo, China, just south of Beijing. Two classes, so there were two teachers, myself and Johnnie Johnstone, a feisty retired engineer ESL teacher from Parksville. I was asked to teach a cooking lesson, so Jen and I designed a menu of Canadian Pizza, fruit salad with maple syrup dressing and fruit smoothies. The planning was great, the buying fun and the lesson was amazing. Shea was a huge help (as always) and we had a really great week. Another skill for the c.v.! We also made button blankets as part of a lesson I taught on First Nations in BC. (Always have to have a craft, yes?). Great fun. And yes, I did phone Maman for some advice before the class!
