We had another day of good, albeit hot weather. As always, we require the kids to take regular water breaks and keep a close eye on their energy levels. We are happy to report another solid day of work in which we all saw a lot of progress on our houses.
The day started with some pretty tired and stiff bodies, as is often the case after the first day. The physical labour, yesterday's was particularly challenging with moving sand, tends to take its toll and as is usual, day 2 started a little slower for everyone. However once we got moving again, our muscles loosened up and our energy levels improved.
Today was particularly rewarding because we began to build the walls which is always exciting because you can see the houses starting to take shape. Spirits were high and the kids continued to show great leadership, teamwork and motivation. The greatest highlight was certainly the increased levels of interaction with the villagers, especially the kids. It is common for the villagers to take a little bit of time to get accustomed to our presence but as we all get over our initial uncertainties, the relationships start to blossom. The work site today was filled with smiles and laughter and we were proud to see such great kids making such a difference in the lives of these people.
