We had a GREAT day yesterday. The sun was shining and no issues with rain. It was very hot and humid, as Cambodia is at this time of year, but we had lots of water at the site and we took regular breaks to ensure everyone stayed hydrated. The kids worked very well together and we saw some fantastic teamwork and leadership demonstrated. Everyone's spirits were high and we look forward to another productive day today. The sun is shining again and we are eating a hearty breakfast to ensure we have the energy we need to have another productive day.
In terms of progress, a footing was poured and columns were set up for the house when we got there. Our first task was to build the floor up since flooding is an issue here. The time it takes to do things here is much longer than in developed countries since we lack the machinery that increases productivity. One team was able to get as far as pouring the cement floor. Today we look forward to building walls which is always a significant thing for us on these trips as it helps us to see our progress better.
