We arrived safely in Phnom Penh this morning at approximately 10:40am local time (11:40am HK time). We arrived to sunny skies and while we saw evidence of the flooding on our descent, Phnom Penh is fine, as well as our work site.
We had a busy day with checking in to the hotel, having our first group lunch (Khmer food is so yummy) and our project orientation. We then headed out to the work site with the hopes of starting our work but unfortunately we ran into some heavy rain so we were prevented from building today. However we were able to meet the families we will be helping. These trips are always great for this personal connection. Although the families do not speak english, we are all looking forward to finding our own means of communication as we help to make a positive change in the lives of these people.
The rain has since subsided and we are hoping for clear skies tomorrow. The kids are all in great spirits and are all looking forward to getting to work bright and early tomorrow morning.
